Continuing where we left off.
Verse 6
"And it came to pass that after many days it began to put forth somewhat a little, young and tender branches; but behold, the main top thereof began to perish."
As we go through this allegory, it is important to note that what is wild, or perishes, or is spoken of in a negative way is pointing toward our hearts moving away from God.
Verse 7
"And it came to pass that the master of the vineyard saw it, and he said unto his servant: It grieveth me that I should lose this tree; wherefore, go and pluck the branches from a wild olive-tree, and bring them hither unto me; and we will pluck off those main branches which are beginning to with away, and we will cast them into the fire that they may be burned."
First, the master of the vineyard saw it. In other words, the Lord know us intimately and deeply and personally. We are not lost from His view or from His knowing. He eye is ever on us.
Isaiah 49:16 - this is what comes to my mind when I read the words, "It grieveth me that I should lose this tree..."
In Isaiah 49:16 we read, "Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me." We are in His hands - there is nothing He can do, no work He can perform, without seeing us and remembering us because we are graven on His hands. Our walls are continually before Him - meaning, that which we use as diversion or to somehow step away from real and honest interaction is the wall. The false beliefs are our walls. Our belief that someone is going to be rude or mean or hurtful, so we close up our heart before a conversation, we prepare ourselves. Because we do not believe anyone when they tell us we are loved and wanted. Our walls are the little protections we use to divert attention or to cancel it altogether.
The wild branches are false beliefs and lies which we live in. The purpose in allowing them to grow is that when the truth (natural branches) are re-introduced, we are able to see it for what it is. The wild gives life because it stirs up the heart and brings to the surface the eventual ability to recognize truth from error. The wild branches keep the tree alive - whether those beliefs are true or not, they are the way the tree has survived and continues to live.
Verse 8-9
"And behold, saith the Lord of the vineyard, I take away many of these young and tender branches, and I will graft them whithersoever I will: and it mattereth not that if it so be that the root of this tree will perish, I may preserve the fruit thereof unto myself; wherefore, I will take these young and tender branches, and I will graft them whithersoever I will. Take thou the branches of the wild olive-tree, and graft them in, in the stead thereof; and these which I have plucked off I will cast into the fire and burn them, that they may not cumber the ground of my vineyard."
The truths which were learned in pre-mortality are taken to unknown parts to be preserved. If the vineyard is myself - these truths still are growing and the Lord, in His wisdom, will keep them from the main tree or my conscious self, until I am ready to understand them - as we see later in this allegory, the corrupted is plucked off and burned to prevent further corruption. Then the wild is grafted in - here is the glory of the stars - the doctrine of man, mingled with scripture. We have partial truths, conveyed in error. But these partial truths allow the roots which are eternal to stay alive. They keep the roots supplied with enough truth to live - and in the process new understanding and wisdom is gained. Things which were, before, unknowable can now be known.
Verse 10
"And it came to pass that the servant of the Lord of the vineyard did according to the word of the Lord of the vineyard, and grafted in the branches of the wild olive tree."
The servant, to me, symbolizes truth and doctrine - it is according to the word of the Lord. Truth is the servant employed so that the grafting line will always be known - otherwise the tree would perish. But because that line is clearly delineated, when it comes time to remove the wild branches and once again graft in the natural branches, it will be a process which is possible.
