"For behold, saith the prophet, the time cometh speedily that Satan shall have no more power over the hearts of the children of men; for the day soon cometh that all the proud and they who do wickedly shall be as stubble; and the day cometh that they must be burned. For the time soon cometh that the fulness of the wrath of God shall be poured out upon all the children of men; for he will not suffer that the wicked shall destroy the righteous."
First, I'm assuming Nephi is still quoting Isaiah at this point. He doesn't specify which prophet, but the only prophet named in the last couple of chapters is Isaiah. What does it mean, "speedily cometh?" If this is Isaiah, then these words were written around 700 B.C. And here we are today, almost 3,000 years later, and still this has not happened in the physical...so what does this look like in the spiritual? What does it mean?
It makes me think about when Isaiah was called to be a prophet and he felt unable because he was "of unclean lips." Something about this is tickling my brain, but I can't quite get to it yet. I'm going to ponder on this more and wait for more clarity to come.
