Olive Tree - Part 4

Continuing where we left off.

Verse 6
"And it came to pass that after many days it began to put forth somewhat a little, young and tender branches; but behold, the main top thereof began to perish."

As we go through this allegory, it is important to note that what is wild, or perishes, or is spoken of in a negative way is pointing toward our hearts moving away from God.

Verse 7
"And it came to pass that the master of the vineyard saw it, and he said unto his servant: It grieveth me that I should lose this tree; wherefore, go and pluck the branches from a wild olive-tree, and bring them hither unto me; and we will pluck off those main branches which are beginning to with away, and we will cast them into the fire that they may be burned."

First, the master of the vineyard saw it.  In other words, the Lord know us intimately and deeply and personally.  We are not lost from His view or from His knowing.  He eye is ever on us.

Isaiah 49:16 - this is what comes to my mind when I read the words, "It grieveth me that I should lose this tree..."

In Isaiah 49:16 we read, "Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me."  We are in His hands - there is nothing He can do, no work He can perform, without seeing us and remembering us because we are graven on His hands.  Our walls are continually before Him - meaning, that which we use as diversion or to somehow step away from real and honest interaction is the wall.  The false beliefs are our walls.  Our belief that someone is going to be rude or mean or hurtful, so we close up our heart before a conversation, we prepare ourselves.  Because we do not believe anyone when they tell us we are loved and wanted.  Our walls are the little protections we use to divert attention or to cancel it altogether.

The wild branches are false beliefs and lies which we live in.  The purpose in allowing them to grow is that when the truth (natural branches) are re-introduced, we are able to see it for what it is.  The wild gives life because it stirs up the heart and brings to the surface the eventual ability to recognize truth from error.  The wild branches keep the tree alive - whether those beliefs are true or not, they are the way the tree has survived and continues to live.

Verse 8-9
"And behold, saith the Lord of the vineyard, I take away many of these young and tender branches, and I will graft them whithersoever I will: and it mattereth not that if it so be that the root of this tree will perish, I may preserve the fruit thereof unto myself; wherefore, I will take these young and tender branches, and I will graft them whithersoever I will.  Take thou the branches of the wild olive-tree, and graft them in, in the stead thereof; and these which I have plucked off I will cast into the fire and burn them, that they may not cumber the ground of my vineyard."

The truths which were learned in pre-mortality are taken to unknown parts to be preserved.  If the vineyard is myself - these truths still are growing and the Lord, in His wisdom, will keep them from the main tree or my conscious self, until I am ready to understand them - as we see later in this allegory, the corrupted is plucked off and burned to prevent further corruption.  Then the wild is grafted in - here is the glory of the stars - the doctrine of man, mingled with scripture.  We have partial truths, conveyed in error.  But these partial truths allow the roots which are eternal to stay alive.  They keep the roots supplied with enough truth to live - and in the process new understanding and wisdom is gained.  Things which were, before, unknowable can now be known.

Verse 10
"And it came to pass that the servant of the Lord of the vineyard did according to the word of the Lord of the vineyard, and grafted in the branches of the wild olive tree."

The servant, to me, symbolizes truth and doctrine - it is according to the word of the Lord.  Truth is the servant employed so that the grafting line will always be known - otherwise the tree would perish.  But because that line is clearly delineated, when it comes time to remove the wild branches and once again graft in the natural branches, it will be a process which is possible.

My life ended 10 days ago and then it started again.

Cory. The first time I met him and he told me his name, five minutes later I called him "Cody." And that is how we began, with me hurting his feelings because I remembered the wrong name. Twenty years and 3 months and one day after that first meeting, he died. I can hardly believe the life I've lived in those 20 years...it seems we packed an eternity of experiences - both good and awful - into those two decades. We were engaged the day we met. Four months later we were married. Thirteen years later we divorced. Two years after that, we were married again. Four years (plus a little) later, divorced again. Ten months, three weeks, and five days later, he was dead. The first divorce, I didn't know it was mental illness. One moment he was loving and the best man I'd ever known. The next moment he was scary and someone I was afraid to be around. He would apologize and I would believe him when he told me he would not do it again. I would immediately extend trust

Shifting the Blog

Hi friends.  Up to today, the blog has just been writing some of the thoughts I've written in the margins of my scriptures as I studied them.  This morning, however, I am feeling pulled to change this blog in a different direction. All of us have baggage from life.  Maybe we were abused.  Maybe we thought of ourselves  as abused.  Maybe we didn't have the kind of parents our friends had.  Maybe we had the perfect parents and still felt sad.  Maybe we were struggling with fitting in so much that we completely changed who we were and now have no idea how to find ourselves again.  Maybe we were so popular that we felt constant pressure to perform and live up to the expectations of those around us.  Maybe life is lovely and we feel ungrateful because there is this nagging feeling that something is missing - but life is good and all of our needs are met.  Maybe we feel like our best isn't enough no matter what we do.  Maybe we feel lonely.  Maybe we feel neglected.  Maybe we f

Masculine and Feminine

Having experienced much of what could be termed abuse in my life, I have sought deeply to understand the truth of man and woman that I might heal and have whole relationships.  There are some truths which are hard to hear and some truths which cause rejoicing when heard.  The particular truths I desire to share here, if a person is not ready to hear them, will sound very wrong and hard to hear.  So before you read further, I ask that you pause and consider whether or not you are willing and ready to read my words as I intend them, giving them my meaning and not adding your own on top of them.  If you are not in a healthy space with masculine and feminine truths, if there is bitterness or anger in you, please pause and consider coming back to this post another time.  Otherwise, this post may incite you and cause anger to rise in your heart because you won't be ready to understand the true meaning of these words. That very long disclaimer said, if you choose to continue to read, I
